Liturgy Committee Ministries

The Liturgy Committee assists the Pastor with coordinating all aspects of liturgical celebration.  Our goal is to foster active participation by the community in all of our liturgies.  The committee consists of representatives of each of our sub-committees as well as some at-large members.  We meet once a month (usually the first Tuesday) for our regular meeting and sometimes have extra meetings for training, planning and environmental setup.  Following is a list of volunteer opportunities:

Altar Linens

Washing and ironing of purificators and corporals and other Altar and Sacristy items.

Altar Guild/Sacristans

Caring for vestments, liturgical vessels, candles and other related liturgical items.

Environment and Art

Plan, make or purchase, and setup the liturgical environment in the Sanctuary and the commons for each liturgical season.

Baptism Towels

Embroidering “Baptized in Christ” on the towel given to the Baptized child.

Liturgy Planning

This committee selects some of the prayers (Opening, Eucharistic, etc.) and composes the Prayers of the Faithful.  They also try to set the tone for Liturgy based on the Liturgical season and give recommendations to Music and  Art and Environment.

Music Ministry

This ministry requires basic musical talent and a willingness to attend weekly rehearsals.

Liturgical Ministry

Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers and Ushers.  These are the people that visibly serve the community during Mass.  A proper understanding and reverence for Liturgy are required to serve in these ministries.  Training sessions for these ministries are held 3 or 4 times per year.  Watch the bulletin for details.
