Parish Life Programs

Parish Life’s purpose is to promote the spirit of community by providing and supporting opportunities for fellowship in a social environment. Areas of responsibility are:

 

Receptions/Socials

Coordinate, set up, host and clean up after events such as the Confirmation reception, Easter Vigil reception, Crèche festival, welcomes and farewells, as well as cultural events. Provide hospitality or support to other ministry events such as the parish picnic, Parish mission/retreat, Full Community Gatherings, vicariate gatherings, Virtus training sessions, and the yard sale and Silent Auction for Maison Fortune orphanage.

Commitment: Events plus meeting on the 3rd Wednesday of each month.

Funeral Receptions 

Coordinate, set up and provide assistance for receptions immediately following funerals, then pack leftovers for family and clean up.

Commitment: Called as needed.

Sunday Hospitality

Serve coffee and donuts immediately following Sunday Masses.

Commitment: One mass a month.

Nursery

Provide adult supervision for the Church’s nursery during Sunday Masses and during events where child care is offered. VIRTUS training and criminal record checks are done on child care providers, for the safety of the children.

Heavenly Chefs

Prepare a dish to share or a tray of desserts for parish receptions on a rotating basis. Usually this means finger foods for a funeral reception or cookies for the recipients of Thanksgiving or Christmas food bags.

Samaritan Meals

Provide meals for parishioners who are in need of short-term assistance due to illness, pregnancy, a death in the family, etc., on a rotating basis.

Helping Hands

Yard work and light home repair for parishioners in need.

Wisdom Seekers

Organize monthly events with guest speakers, such as luncheons at the church or in local restaurants, day trips and extended bus trips, for seniors or anyone else who would like to attend.

Mom’s Group

An opportunity for fellowship with other adults, gathering on Friday mornings. Nursery is provided.
