Sacramental Preparation
 

Baptism:  preparation is conducted for parish registered parents who desire to have their infant / child (6 years or younger) baptized.  Sessions are scheduled for one Saturday day from 9:00am to 1:00pm.  Please contact Deacon Mike at the Religious Formation office at 479-9897 to schedule a spot for the formation session.

 First Communion:  normally conducted for those children in 2nd grade level of religious formation who have been in religious formation for at least 1 year and those children in later levels of formation as required.  The formation process begins with preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This portion of the formation is normally conducted in two 2.5 hour Sunday sessions at the beginning of the new year for both parent and children, followed by an associated children’s retreat on Saturday from 9am to 12pm.  First Reconciliation is conducted on a Saturday at 10am.  The preparation sessions continue for First Communion, which includes two 2.5 hour Sunday sessions in the spring for both parent and children along with an associated children’s Saturday retreat from 9am to 12pm.  First Communion will be conducted at all masses on the 1st Sunday of May 2012.

Reconciliation Parent-child session 1: Jan 22, 2012 2:15-4:30pm

Reconciliation Parent-child session 2: Jan 29, 2012 2:15-4:30pm

Child retreat: Feb 4, 2012 9am-12pm (includes practice for the Sacrament of Reconciliation)

Celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation: Feb 11, 2012 10am

 

First Communion Parent-child session 1: April 22, 2012 2:15-4:30pm

First Communion Parent-child session 2: April 29, 2012 2:15-4:30pm

Child retreat: May 5, 2012 9am-12pm (includes practice for the Sacrament of First Communion)

Celebration of First Communion: at all masses May 5/6

 Confirmation: for adults desiring to receive this final sacrament of initiation please contact the Religious Formation office at 479-9897 or by email – deacon_mike@stmark-parish.org.  

For Young People who have been in an ongoing formation program: preparation is incorporated into our High School Formation process. Preparation for this Sacrament will normally be for youth in the 10th and 11th grade. (please see separate link regarding Religious Formation for grades 8 to12)

 Marriage: those couples preparing for the Sacrament of Marriage need to allow 6 months for the planning process. They should be registered members of the parish and contact the parish office and make an appointment and talk with the pastor before establishing a wedding date.  The parish has a Marriage preparation class for those planning on getting married, please contact the parish office for information on dates.
