  Saint Mark Parish Updates
Updated  ~ August 3rd, 2020

Weather alert
Due to Hurricane Isaias track and projection of hitting Virginia Beach area tomorrow at 8am, the Parish Offices and church will be closed Tuesday, August 4th. That includes cancellation of the 8:30am Mass. We ask all of you to stay safe and sound with both the storm and the corona virus guidelines.

Dear St Mark Family,

This weekend we celebrate the 19th Sunday in Ordinary Time with our limited participation Masses. On Saturday, August 8th, at 5:30pm, then on Sunday, August 9th at 8am and 11am. We continue our Virtual Mass at 10am on Facebook Live and then on our YouTube channel.

Reminders for those coming to the Mass at church:
1. Please sign up on the using our NEW sign up method for Mass link (below or on the Home page) or you can call the parish office to sign up. A mask still needs to be worn as soon as you leave your car for those 10 and older. We can accommodate up to 150 folks in church.
2. We screen folks at the door with health questions, sign in update and use of mask. (please have the mask cover both nose and mouth)
3. You will be directed to the usher for social distance seating, starting from front to back.
4. For Communion the usher will direct pews from back to front. You will proceed to Father Anthony's or the Deacon's Communion station with your mask on, receive the Eucharist, move to the right or left 6ft yellow tape marking, remove the mask and consume the Eucharist, place mask back on and maintain social distancing as you return to your pew.
5. The recessional will be usher directed from back to front. Please be patient and maintain social distance throughout to include in the Commons as you exit the church.

We have sad news about the passing of another parishioner, Bob Bason, a regular at 5:30pm Mass and a long-time Food Pantry volunteer. We will celebrate Bob's life with a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, Aug 7th, at 11am with inurnment to follow. Please also keep our former longtime Parish Secretary, Anne Polli, in your prayers at the passing of her husband Fred.

Daily Mass is in the main church on our normal schedule: Tuesday at 8:30am, Wednesday at 7pm, and Thursday at 8:30am. This remains a good option for those that feel more vulnerable as we have had very small crowds. No sign up required however, the same safety procedures as the weekend Mass are in effect, with the use of the mask and social distancing throughout. You will be directed to your seat after signing in. Communion will be directed by the staff ushers along with Dismissal. Dismissal will be directed by the usher from back to front. You will exit through the door you entered the church.

The church will be open for private prayer and devotion this week from 11am to 3pm on Monday and 9am to 3pm Wednesday and Thursday. Note - we will have an 'in church rosary' on Wednesday at 6:30pm. We will have a virtual Rosary on Friday of at 3pm. We will have our 1st Thursday Adoration this Thursday, Aug 6th, from 9am to 6:30pm, followed by prayer and benediction - please come and spend some time with our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament.

For families with children in grades 1 to 5, along with teens in grades 6 to 12; the Religious Formation staff is currently putting together a plan for the coming Formation year with collaboration from the diocese. So please stay tuned as we put together a plan to bring children and families closer in their relationship with Christ!

We will reopen the St Mark Food Pantry this Wednesday, August 5th, 10:30am to 1:30pm, under a new process. Looking for volunteers to assist, sign up at Information Kiosk!

Please stay connected to the parish through the website, our Facebook, Flocknote text and emails for news and updates! Remember the bulletin is also here on the website.

Stay safe and may you have a most blessed day, Deacon Mike
